I left off blogging in 2014 while I was far out in Hehe land.  The experiences there were so vivid and overwhelming that I simply could not find time and focus to report them at that time.  So, to sum up the program of 2014, I'll simply say that John traveled by bus from Dar to Mafinga so he too could visit in Madisi for a few days, and then we both returned to Dar in an unforgettable 9-hour bus ride. In Dar, we stayed in a modest hotel in the Asian section of the city, where I could live in air-conditioned comfort and enjoy the wonderful shops and restaurants in the blocks near us.  We became addicted to Summy's grilled chicken and ate it as often as was sane.

Our one long field trip was a weekend in Bagamoyo, where for me the best event was visiting the place where the African porters brought David Livingstone's body so it could be sent back to England.

On May 7, we all flew back to the States and quickly reverted to being Americans again.

Now it is January 2015, and John and I are again in Arusha, staying in our usual apartment at Kundayo and doing whatever pleases us.  It's a different experience without students, but I love the sense of being at home once more.
